The AGBU Armenian Virtual College (AVC) continues to play a crucial role in advancing and promoting Armenian education through initiatives that foster professional discussions and collaborations on national education challenges and innovative teaching methods.
In February and March 2025, AVC held a series of webinars in honor of International Mother Language Day (February 21), focusing on key issues related to preserving and teaching the Armenian language in the Diaspora.
These webinars were organized as part of the AVC Pan-Armenian Educational Forum, which has served as a platform for professional dialogue, exchange, and collaboration for nearly 1,500 Armenian educators and representatives worldwide.
The webinar topics included:
- "New Format of Educational Materials Used in Diaspora Schools"
- "The Language of the Modern Western Armenian Press"
- "New Trends in Armenian Language Teaching: Inter-Diaspora Observations"
In his opening speech, AGBU Vice President and AVC Founding President Dr. Yervant Zorian emphasized the significance of the occasion, stating: “International Mother Language Day holds special meaning for Armenians worldwide, as preserving, developing, and promoting our language is, in many ways, a shared responsibility both in the homeland and the Diaspora. Education has been a cornerstone of AGBU since its founding, which is why AGBU has Armenian schools operating in major Diaspora communities, while the Armenian Virtual College fosters collaboration among all Diaspora schools. I am pleased that the AVC Pan-Armenian Educational Forum has once again united us to discuss key issues in Armenian education and explore ways for cooperation.”
The webinars attracted a wide audience, including Armenian educators from the U.S., Argentina, Europe, Russia, and Armenia, underscoring the importance of such initiatives. The presentations by invited speakers were followed by engaging and productive discussions on the challenges and solutions related to teaching the Armenian language and history in Diaspora schools.
