AGBU Armenian Virtual College Participates in Digitec Expo 2013 10/04/2013
Technological innovations are becoming quite swift and widespread in today’s digitalized world. Annual Technological Expo in Armenia- Digitec is becoming a nice way of keeping the interested parties up with the pace of technological advancements and making the information accessible to the public at large. This year DigitecExpo took place on October 4-6 in the Computer Research and Development Institute inYerevan, Armenia. Numerous companies operating in spheres of IT software and hardware, finance and banking solutions, business process automation, high tech, engineering, multimedia, e-learning, e-governance, and others were present at the expo, creating favorable business conditions for local and international participating companies. The Armenian Virtual College (AVC), together with the Armenian Chess Academy, exhibited the outcome of the recent joint project through the demos of the online chess courses. This new approach towards teaching and learning chess was achieved through both AVC and the Chess Academy’s sophisticated efforts and solutions in developing the course material. The multimedia means at the base of the program make it accessible to anyone, anywhere, at anytime. Moreover, the online instructor, an international master of chess, guides the students in their learning process with the help of online connection augmenting the effectiveness of the service. Enriched with creative quizzes, puzzles, and exercises the teaching material becomes attractive with its friendly interface and accompanying tools. During the expo’s opening session, the AVC pavilion was visited by the state delegation headed by the RA President Mr. Serzh Sargsyan. The Founder and President of the Armenian Virtual College Dr. Yervant Zorian and Chess Program specialist Aghasi Inants showed the delegates how easily the program operates. The delegation expressed real interest and satisfaction on the new approach of teaching chess as a nice supplement to the state policy of making chess compulsory in school curricula. Afterwards, Armenian Virtual College Administrative Director Mrs. Anna Yengibaryan gave a comprehensive presentation on AVC’s technology-based activities, mission and new solutions in e-learning. The pavilion became a popular place to see especially for young professionals from varying companies, visiting guests, students, children, and even chess players for whom the approach to chess was quite new and interesting. The three-day event created a nice buzz for AVC high-tech solutions in online education not only in the business world and media but also among the general public, who went home that day spreading the word to their friends and family about the chess course that could be learned online with AVC.
