On September 29, 2015 Prof. Samvel Shoukourian, Member of the AVC Board of Trustees and Dr. Yervant Zorian, AVC Founder were invited to give a keynote talk at the 10th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technologies (CSIT’2015) held at the American University of Armenia, Yerevan, Armenia.
The conference, CSIT’2015, took place after a 20-year pause (the first CSIT was held in 1997) and attracted more than 100 experts from 20 countries. The presentation began with a 30 minute introductory talk by Dr. Shoukourian, and Dr. Zorian opened with the “Information Technologies and Education” International Workshop – one of the topic area workshops at CSIT. The presentation was titled “From Prototypes to Solutions: Resource Virtualization for Web-based Learning”. The topics discussed in the presentation included resource virtualization methodology for learning, learning management and quality assurance, infrastructure and platforms for learning, as well as automation tools supporting course development and management processes. The presenters emphasized that all the results were obtained from the operation and expertise of the IT Educational and Research Center of Yerevan State University and the AGBU Armenian Virtual College, the latter serving as the only learning environment in Armenia that utilizes web-based information and communication technologies in its learning process in an effective and flexible way.
The presentation was followed by great positive feedback and appreciation. The participants also noted the importance of the investment that both the Armenian Virtual College and the IT Educational and Research Center had had in using ICT in the learning process.
