“The Further I Explore The Course, The More Interesting Armenian Language Becomes To Me” 07/23/2024

Born and raised in Tbilisi, Georgia, AGBU AVC e-learner Eleonora Ter-Poghosyan has always wanted to learn Armenian. Since she was little, she could converse with her grandparents in Armenian, but that had been the extent of her command of the language until recently.

“I always wanted to learn my native language, but, somehow, things didn’t work out. There is a large number of people who do not speak their language,” she says, “and whenever they decide to start learning it, it is always going to be a good idea, I believe.”

So, what was the turning point for Eleonora?

“I believe that the Armenian language is a difficult one, and it is not easy to learn. So, I was looking for all kinds of courses, and while searching on the internet, one day I came across the AGBU AVC courses, easily registered, and right from the beginning, the lessons pleasantly surprised me. They were easy for me and, thanks to the well-thought program, the Armenian letters were easy to remember. I was absolutely delighted!” she recalls.

Eleonora’s main goal was to master the grammar and she easily passed all the lessons and tests. “The further I explore the course, the more interesting the language becomes to me. I’m interested in learning more words. I’m interested in using them correctly. I’m interested in learning more about it in general. It’s as if the language has been opening up to me layer by layer, showing off its richness and beauty.”

Since 2023, Eleonora has completed three levels of the AGBU AVC Armenian Language course, which is offered online and available in multiple languages of instruction. She is currently taking the Intermediate level of the Eastern Armenian course instructed in Russian. AGBU AVC Online Instructor Gohar Gevorgyan describes Eleonora as a self-disciplined and goal-oriented e-learner. “She always brings bright ideas and high motivation to all our e-gatherings and forum discussions,” says Gohar.

Still on her learning journey, Eleonora plans to continue her studies of the Armenian language with AGBU AVC. “I will definitely continue my studies and take all the courses. Thank you for this opportunity. I recommend AGBU AVC courses. This is a good and affordable opportunity to learn the language and gain a deeper understanding of the culture of our people.”
