This year, like in previous years, AVC continues to actively contribute to the summer programs organized by the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU). 

The list of educational programs includes the AGBU Musical Armenia Program (MAP) and the AGBU Global Leadership Program (GLP), which are both aimed at connecting people around the world to the Armenian heritage through education, networking and socializing.

Being an accredited online institution specializing in Armenian studies and having more than a decade-long experience in online teaching, AVC contributed to these programs throughout the years by organizing multiple virtual events for the participants to further enhance their experience of the rich Armenian culture.

This summer, AVC hosted five special events for the MAP participants and the GLP young professionals.

On June 25, a group of MAP students participated in an online event dedicated to the Armenian musical genius Komitas. AVC senior online instructor Ani Dekirmenchyan introduced the works and the life story of the musician, which was followed by a discussion.

On the next day, another group of MAP students was taken on a virtual tour to Matenadaran, the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, by AVC Education Team manager Marine Khachaturyan. During the event, the participants learned about the art of the Armenian illuminated manuscripts and had a chance to ask questions.

The last event organized for MAP participants was a virtual tour at the House-Museum of Aram Khachaturyan, a visit full of informative stories and interesting facts about the renowned Armenian composer and conductor.

On July 17, AVC took the GLP professionals joining from New York and Boston on a cultural visit to Sergey Parajanov Museum in Yerevan. AVC senior online instructor Ani Dekirmenchyan walked the participants through the museum and familiarized them with the works and the life of the famous artist. The group of Diasporan youth had an opportunity to connect to their Armenian roots, ask questions and socialize.

Later in July, AVC held another social meetup for the GLP participants. Led by Marine Khachaturyan, the event covered some of the most important battles in Armenian history: Sardarapat, Bash Aparan and Karakilisa. Towards the end of the meeting, the participants went on a virtual tour of the Sardarapat Memorial and Museum where they learned about the life stories and the courageous acts of Armenian national heroes.

The Musical Armenia Program is an intensive ten-day annual program open to musicians and music lovers of all heritages and backgrounds.

The Global Leadership Program is an eight-week annual program tailored to unite Armenian youth from all around the world to gain hands-on experience in their field of study.
